news around the world including a slowing in U.S. economic growth, a U.S.
debt rating downgrade, and an escalating debt crisis in Europe. The result was
a bout of investor risk aversion, and spike in volatility, not seen since the U.S.
financial crisis in late 2008/early 2009.

REIT Market Overview
After suffering significantly in the recession of late 2008, the Dow Jones REIT
index has recovered, outperforming the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial
Average by a wide margin. REITs have become more popular due to their ability
